1. Middle Belt groups endorse Peter Obi

The leaders of the Middle Belt communities and delegates known as the Southern and Middle Belt Alliance have endorsed the presidential ambition of the Labour Party candidate, Mr Peter Obi of Labour Party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

2. Indefinite strike: Peter Obi laments varsity closure

The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has lamented the effect of the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities on students and tertiary education in the country.

Reacting to the ongoing strike in a tweet on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, the LP presidential candidate said universities have been closed for six months.

He wrote, “Nigeria is vastly polarized and wracked by deep divisions along religious, ethnic and regional lines. There is a staggering level of corruption. Our universities have remained closed for six months.

“While our healthcare system remains almost moribund, power generation and distribution are also at an all-time low.

“Our position is that ASUU strike has lingered for far too long. It is unconscionable, worrisome and unacceptable that FGN would allow such an industrial action to become almost intractable to the detriment of our students.

“It’s time for FGN to engage in collaborative negotiations with ASUU, and in good faith. -PO”

 

3. Nigerians in diaspora to host Peter Obi in U.S.

Nigerians in the U.S. are to host the Labour Party flag-bearer for the 2023 Nigeria presidential election, Peter Obi, in five U.S. states.

Obi announced his engagement with Nigerians in the U.S in a video posted on social media, which according to him, will start from Wednesday, Aug. 31 to Saturday, Sept. 3.

The Labour Party flag bearer for the forthcoming 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, has insisted that Nigeria needs one visionary leader and disruptive thinker for the country to be back on the right trajectory.

He stated this in a series of tweets via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday morning.

Obi said, “It can only take one visionary leadership and disruptive thinker for Nigeria to be put back on the right trajectory. Our vision and mission is to give full expression to our democracy by moving our country from consumption to production.”

“You have the network and numbers to be able to negotiate the priorities of the government, especially during the election period as the one we are embarking on soon.

“You should be able to place pressing issues on the agenda of the candidates and subsequently, on the front burners for the new government that will be formed.-PO.”
