President Bola Tinubu tripped and fell while trying to get into a parade car to give a Democracy Day speech at Eagles Square in Abuja.
A video circulating on social media shows the president stumbling and falling while getting into a vehicle for the parade on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, during the Democracy Day celebration.
President Tinubu, dressed in white agbada and his signature cap, tried to catch himself by holding onto the vehicle but fell to the ground. His aides quickly helped him back up.
Dada Olusegun, a special assistant to the president on social media, downplayed the incident on his X page, saying Tinubu immediately continued with the ceremony.
He wrote, “Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”
