Lagos State University LASU after months of being on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic was scheduled to re-open today as is all Tertiary institutions in the state on the directives of the Lagos government.
Unfortunately for students and lecturers who were looking forward to getting back to their routine, the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU and the Non Academic Staff Union of Universities NASU had other ideas as they locked the main entrance of the University over non payment of minimum wage.
The protests which started as early as 7am prevented both students and lecturers access through the main gate.
Prof Olarenwaju Fagboun, the Vice Chancellor of the University was not left out as he too could not gain entrance, despite attempts to come to terms with NLC, ASUU and NASU members who insisted no one will be allowed in unless their demands are met.
