Federal Government Empowers 3,000 Women Through Credi Corp Queen Rider Tricycle Ownership Scheme. See details and how to apply below.
The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), has expanded the Queen Rider programme, an initiative aimed at empowering Nigerian women economically by enabling them to own and operate tricycles through credit-backed financing.
The expansion targets at least 100 women in each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 3,700 nationwide. The Queen Rider programme falls under CREDICORP’s S.C.A.L.E. initiative (Securing Consumer Access for Local Enterprises), which connects Nigerian consumers to the country’s manufacturing base while promoting inclusive economic growth.
In partnership with Gamma Mobility, the programme gives selected women access to locally assembled tricycles produced by Simba TVS, a company with a daily production capacity of over 1,100 vehicles in Nigeria. Financial access is provided through Accion Microfinance Bank and other partner institutions, ensuring structured and affordable credit options.
CREDICORP’s Managing Director, Uzoma Nwagba, described the initiative as more than just a transportation solution, but a vehicle for dignity and opportunity. “These tricycles are not just vehicles,” he said. “They represent ownership, autonomy, and agency for women delivered through structured, affordable credit and made in Nigeria. We are striving for household dignity and industrial growth at the same time.”
The Queen Rider scheme also supports Nigeria’s industrial development by boosting demand for locally manufactured vehicles, thereby creating jobs and increasing domestic production. According to CREDICORP, each loan disbursed under the scheme not only helps improve a woman’s livelihood but contributes to the growth of Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.
The initiative is part of CREDICORP’s broader vision to provide consumer credit to half of Nigeria’s workforce by 2030. Other programmes under this vision include YouthCRED, which supports young people and NYSC members, and C.A.L.M., which promotes clean energy and compressed natural gas solutions.
Nwagba said the programme aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s long-standing commitment to consumer credit access. “The President is a man who has been very passionate about consumer credit for many decades. It is his idea that people should be able to access goods and services that improve their lives and pay for them over time,” he noted.
Gamma Mobility Co-Founder, Sam Esiri, added that the Queen Rider initiative is more than a product launch. “It is a resolute proclamation that Nigerian women deserve unhindered access to dignity, purpose, and prosperity,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Elizabeth John, expressed gratitude to CREDICORP and its partners and pledged that the women selected would use the opportunity to uplift their families and build better futures.
