In order to comply with social distancing restrictions that are in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19, SASSA has assigned different payment dates for different grant categories.

The Management of SASSA has shared payment update for the month of April 2023. According to the update:

  1. Older Person’s Grants will be paid on Tuesday, 04 April 2023. This includes any grants linked to these accounts. This grant is given to South African citizens who are 60 years or older and who meet certain income and asset requirements.
  2. Disability Grants will be paid on Wednesday, 05 April 2023. This includes any grants linked to these accounts. This grant is given to individuals with disabilities who are South African citizens and who meet certain criteria.
  3. All other grants will be paid on Thursday, 06 April 2023. This includes grants such as the Child Support Grant and the Foster Child Grant. The Child Support Grant is given to primary caregivers of children under the age of 18 who meet certain income and asset requirements, while the Foster Child Grant is given to foster parents who meet certain criteria.

It’s important to note that SASSA advises grant recipients not to rush to withdraw cash on the first day of payment. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed. This is a helpful reminder for those who may feel pressure to withdraw their funds immediately, as it allows them to access the money at a time that is convenient for them.

Lastly, for those who have a SASSA Postbank Gold Card that is expiring in March 2023, it’s recommended to read the article “What To Do If Your SASSA Postbank Gold Card Expiring March 2023” to avoid any issues with receiving their grant payment.
