Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has officially launched the EnuguSME × Turing Tech Training Program (ETTP), an innovative initiative designed to position Enugu State as a leading hub for digital workforce development in Nigeria. Developed in partnership with Turing Tech Ltd. and the Office of Digital Economy, this program aims to equip young people in Enugu with the skills and certifications needed to secure high-paying international technology jobs, earning competitive dollar incomes, all while working remotely from home.

Enugu Enters the Global Outsourcing Economy

ETTP marks Enugu’s entry into the global outsourcing market by building a pipeline of world-class digital talent ready for international remote work opportunities. The program focuses on cultivating skills in software development and artificial intelligence, preparing participants to meet global standards and employer expectations.

The Enugu SME Center summarized the program’s vision, stating:
“With ETTP, your tech skills go global. You learn, upskill, get certified, and are placed, with guaranteed earnings after training for one year.”

Program Overview

Participants in the ETTP will undergo a rigorous 12-month training program focused on full-stack web development, including both front-end and back-end development, alongside the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The curriculum also includes preparation for remote work environments, ensuring graduates are ready for global digital careers.

Key Features of the Training Include:

  • Comprehensive upskilling in full-stack software development, AI/ML fundamentals, and remote work readiness

  • Earning a globally recognized tech certification

  • Guaranteed job placement with international employers through Turing Tech’s extensive global network

  • Competitive monthly earnings starting at ₦1,066,667 (approximately $1,500) in the first year, scaling up to ₦2,280,000+ per month in subsequent years

  • Ability to participate either fully online or via hybrid modes to accommodate various learning preferences

Investment and Commitment

Participants are required to pay a commitment fee of ₦400,000, which represents just 5% of the total training cost. Importantly, this program operates without the need for government subsidies or bank guarantees, making it an accessible and sustainable model for workforce development.

Strategic Impact

The Enugu SME Center highlighted that ETTP is a central pillar in Governor Mbah’s economic strategy to drive GDP growth, massive job creation, and the empowerment of Enugu’s youth within the rapidly growing digital economy.

Benefits to Enugu and Nigeria

  • Local youth can now access global tech opportunities without relocating abroad

  • The program supports remote and hybrid working models, allowing participants to live and work in Enugu while earning international salaries

  • Increased foreign exchange inflow: Graduates earning salaries starting from $1,500/month inject substantial foreign income into the local economy, benefiting families and communities

  • ETTP helps establish Enugu as Nigeria’s next outsourcing capital, positioning the state as a center for export-ready, highly skilled tech professionals

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the program, candidates must:

  1. Be between 18 and 35 years old

  2. Be digitally literate

  3. Be able to commit at least 20 hours per week to training

  4. Applicants from any part of the world are welcome to apply

Man Arrested After Disguising as Dispatch Rider to Murder Ex-Girlfriend in Lagos

Residents of a Lagos estate were left in shock on Thursday night after a young woman, Deborah Porsche, popularly known as Debporsche, was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend, identified simply as Lintex, nearly a year after their breakup. According to reports, Lintex had repeatedly threatened Deborah since their split in August 2024, allegedly vowing: “If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I no marry you, blood go flow.” Deborah’s sister described her as a hardworking interior decorator who had just completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). She further alleged that the deceased endured emotional abuse throughout her relationship with Lintex, which ultimately pushed her to walk away. On the night of the attack, the suspect disguised himself as a dispatch rider in an attempt to infiltrate the estate. Security guards reportedly stopped him at the gate, but he scaled the fence and gained entry to Deborah’s apartment. Eyewitnesses said Lintex first tampered with the gas cylinder line outside the apartment, allegedly trying to cause an explosion. When that failed, he forced his way inside and stabbed Deborah multiple times with a knife he brought along. Alarmed neighbours rushed to the scene and alerted the police. The suspect was subdued and handed over to law enforcement officers. Police authorities have confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing. Deborah’s tragic death has sparked outrage online and renewed calls for stronger legal protections for women against abusive and obsessive partners.
