Steps In Applying For The Automated Passport

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has officially launched the highly anticipated international passport automation system. This system, unveiled on Monday, empowers Nigerians to conveniently apply for their international passports with minimal physical contact with officials.

Applicants can follow these straightforward steps for passport application:

Step 1:
Visit the Nigeria Immigration Service website at [https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/](https://passport.immigration.gov.ng/). Enter your National Identification Number (NIN) to automatically populate your data from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).

Step 2:
Complete the required data fields.

Step 3:
Upload a photograph and any other necessary supporting documents.

Step 4:
Visit an immigration office for your biometric capture.

Step 5:
Your passport will be ready for collection within two weeks.

This streamlined process aims to enhance the efficiency and accessibility of passport application, offering a more convenient experience for applicants.

 

Pricing:
– N35,000 for 32 pages (Five-year validity)
– N70,000 for 64 pages (10-year validity)
– $142 for 32 pages (Five-year validity)
– $242 for 64 pages (10-year validity)

Requirements for Fresh Applicants:
1. Nigerian citizenship.
2. National Identification Number (NIN).
3. Passport photograph meeting International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
4. Supporting documents, such as birth certificates and local government certificates of indigeneship, etc.

Requirements for Renewal:
1. National Identification Number (NIN).
2. Old passport number.
3. Passport photograph meeting ICAO standards.
4. Supporting documents, including birth certificates and local government certificates of indigeneship, etc.

These stipulations aim to facilitate a smooth application and renewal process for individuals seeking international passports, ensuring compliance with necessary standards and documentation.
