The most corrupt administration in Nigerian history is Buhari’s – Archbishop Chukwuma

The Archbishop of the Enugu Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of the Enugu Diocese, both members of the Anglican Communion. Reverend Emmanuel Chukwuma has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration once more, claiming that it is the country’s most corrupt administration ever.

Goldennewsng reports that On Monday evening, Chukwuma gave a speech to journalists in Enugu and said that the Buhari administration had failed in the fight against corruption.

The cleric said that it was sad that a government that was elected because it promised to fight corruption and make the economy better had made things worse in the country.

He stated, “When Buhari came in, he promised change, and we embraced him, but what we are seeing is worse than what was promised to Nigerians.”

“Corruption has reached an extreme level. Under this government, there is an excessive amount of embezzlement and money laundering.

“Corrupt officials who are indicted and arrested are not being held in jail; even those who were held in jail by the previous administration have been pardoned.

“We were told around billions of recuperated plunder, where could it be? I said the government is too corrupt for this reason. They are stealing recovered funds again.

The Daily Post recalls that the Buhari administration pardoned two former State governors who had been imprisoned for stealing public funds earlier this year.

The previous lead representatives, Joshua Dariye of Level State and Cheerful Nyame of Taraba State administered their individual States somewhere in the range of 1999 and 2007.

They were one of the 159 people who had been convicted and were granted pardons by the Council of State in April of this year.

Archbishop Chukwuma said that the development showed that the government didn’t care about fighting corruption.

He also mocked the government for the country’s spiraling inflation and lamented that the common man was no longer able to afford basic goods.

“Inflation is at an all-time high right now. A liter of gasoline currently costs between N250 and N300.

“Salary payments have not been made; The minimum wage has not yet been enacted in many states.

“Brain drain is at its highest level, medical professionals in particular have all left the country, and the government is just going about its business as if nothing has changed.

“We don’t know how the debt will be paid; the only thing this government cares about is taking out loans every day; We are not even privy to their use of the loans.

Theft of oil has grown worse. Why should the vessel that was found be burned, and why should evidence be destroyed? He lamented, “Somebody should be fired for doing that, but nothing has happened.”

Chukwuma advised voters during the general election in 2023 to “look out for people with pedigree to bring us out of this mess.” We are enslaved by corruption, insecurity, a failing education, inflation, and a poor economy.

People are even skeptical that the election will not be held because it is so upsetting. We should ask God to intervene.

“They have nothing to offer, so all the old politicians should step down. A new wine in a new wine skin is what we want.

However, he advised Nigerians to remain prayerful rather than despair.

“It has become pertinent for me to release this message as we begin Advent, approach Christmas, and approach New Year’s Eve.

Nigerians ought to get closer to God and put their faith in him for help. Let us collaborate to improve Nigeria.

He also condemned the attack on some communities in Eha-Amufu, which killed several people, in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.

He demanded the immediate removal of the state’s security chiefs and accused some security personnel of sabotaging Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s efforts.

He asserted, “Some of these security men are not helping us, and they appear to be sympathetic to those who are killing our people.”
