These soldiers were part of the troops deployed to restore peace between the warring communities of Okuama and Okoloba in Delta state.

According to reports, the attackers subjected most of the deceased soldiers to gruesome acts, including beheading and dismemberment, sparking outrage across the nation.

In response, President Tinubu expressed his determination to ensure that justice is served for this “unconscionable crime.”

He condemned the heinous act as not only an assault on the individuals involved but also on the entire nation.

Speaking at the breaking of the Ramadan fast in Abuja, President Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the military and the families of the fallen soldiers.

He hailed these brave soldiers as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, urging fellow citizens to honor their memory and acknowledge their invaluable contributions to the nation.

Recognizing the bravery displayed by the soldiers in responding to a distress call, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of commemorating their sacrifice and expressing gratitude for their selfless service.

“Let us pray for Nigeria. Let us see our country go through these problems. I accept the sympathy, and on behalf of the country, I saw your messages for the loss of the lives of our military men,” he said.

“We have to salute them as our heroes. Responding to a distress call, they met the end of their lives in a savagery manner. Let us work to sympathise and symbolise the fact that their lives are worth the sacrifices they are making for Nigeria.

“We salute all our men and women in uniform and we sympathise with them. They must have a befitting burial and they will have national honours.”

President Tinubu assured the nation of his commitment to providing updates and directives regarding the incident, reaffirming his dedication to upholding justice and safeguarding the welfare of Nigeria’s armed forces.
