Tinubu Reacts Over Death Of AMAA Founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe

The death of Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the founder of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), has prompted Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Goldennewsng reports that after a brief illness, Ms. Anyiam-Osigwe passed away on Monday in a Lagos hospital.

On Tuesday, Mr. Tinubu released a statement from his media office that was signed by Tunde Rahman. In the statement, Mr. Tinubu said that the deceased will be remembered fondly for her work in the continent’s film industry and for fostering creative talent through the Africa Film Academy (AFA) and AMAA.

Peace Anyiam-Osigwe was a well-known figure in the entertainment industry in Nigeria and Africa. I was saddened to learn of her sudden death. She will always be cherished and remembered for her dedication to the development of the creative industry in Nigeria and throughout Africa, where she was a pioneer by providing a credible award platform and nurturing talent.

I have a personal connection to Peace because of my involvement with her illustrious family. My deepest sympathies go out to her aging mother, brothers, professional coworkers, and friends. Tinubu prayed, “May God grant her soul a peaceful rest.”
