According to the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council, the party’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu’s chances of becoming Nigeria’s next president will not be affected by “negative narratives.”
Goldennewsng reports that this was stated by David Asalu (Asler), Chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s Youth and Student Mobilization Directorate in Osun state, during a strategic meeting with youths from the state’s 332 wards held at the Tinubu-Shettima campaign office in Osogbo.
He urged APC youths in the state to keep bringing in more young people to the Tinubu-Shettima project so that the party can win the majority of youth votes in the state’s upcoming elections.
“We must also acknowledge the efforts of agents of distraction who are pushing negative narratives about the person of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima. This is in spite of the marketability of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. These people are attempting to reach young people by telling them negative stories about our candidate and his running mate. We are aware of these efforts to denigrate Shettima and Asiwaju. Additionally, we must fight back.
“We must engage in collective rebuttal of the negative narratives pushed against our candidate and his running mate by agents of evil.
He continued, “A major task for us to achieve prior to February 25 is massive recruitment of youths and students into the support base of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and making them agents of mobilization themselves, to ensure that we take up the vast majority of voting youths in our State through the Wards.”
In addition, Demola Adeyeye, the Directorate’s Secretary, stated that the meeting was to review the Directorate’s activities with relevant stakeholders in order to improve its relationship with the state’s youth population in advance of the February and March General Elections.
“The response we are receiving is very encouraging. We have been meeting with various youth groups and organizations about the need to buy into the Tinubu-Shettima project. Now, we’re making sure that every polling place in Osun is well covered.
“We are emphasizing the need for significant legwork to persuade elderly people that Tinubu’s project is the best option for Nigeria at this point in our history. We must all become door-to-door canvassers in order to accomplish this,” he added.
