Top 11 New FG initiatives, official websites to apply

The Federal Government of Nigeria has rolled out various initiatives to improve its citizens’ socio-economic conditions. These programs target different sectors, providing opportunities for education, employment, entrepreneurship, and skill development.

1. Student Loan Scheme

The Nigerian Student Loan Scheme helps students in colleges and universities pay for their education. This program gives money to students to cover their school fees, housing, and books. Students can borrow this money at low interest rates and don’t have to start paying it back until they finish school. This means they can focus on learning without worrying about money. The government designed this program to be easy to use. Students don’t need to jump through hoops to apply, which makes going to college possible for all Nigerian students.

2. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative

The Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG) is a component of the palliative intervention of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration directed at providing succor to the masses occasioned by the transitive hardships of the fuel subsidy removal policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

3. Consumer Credit Corporation

The Consumer Credit Corporation provides credit facilities to individuals and businesses to boost consumer purchasing power and stimulate economic growth.

The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) is a Development Finance Institution (DFI) of the Federal Government of Nigeria, established with one mandate: to democratise access to consumer credit for Nigeria’s working population. We achieve our mandate via three pillars:

I. Infrastructure: strengthening Nigeria’s consumer credit infrastructure, also ensuring every economically active citizen has a comprehensive credit score. This score becomes personal equity they build, facilitating access to consumer credit.

II. Capital: providing wholesale funding and credit guarantees to Financial Institutions committed to expanding consumer credit access today.

III. Cultural Re-orientation of the public (on responsible consumer credit as a pathway to a higher quality of life) and institutions (on effective consumer credit underwriting as a path to growth)

4. Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDiCE) Program

The Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises Program (iDICE) is a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative promoting investment in digital and creative industries. It is part of Nigeria’s efforts to build back better, greener, and more inclusively,and to create more sustainable jobs for its youthful population.

The $617.7 million program targets Nigerians aged 15 to 35 years who are involved in innovative, early-stage, technology-enabled start-ups or in creative sector micro, small and medium sized enterprises. The program is co-financed by the Federal Government of Nigeria (through the Bank of Industry), African Development Bank (AfDB), the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).

5. Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA)

SUPA aims to enhance the skills of artisans across Nigeria, enabling them to improve their craft and increase their income. The program provides training and certification in various trades.

6. Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA)

NIYA is a platform for youth development, offering training, mentorship, and leadership programs to young Nigerians. It seeks to empower the next generation of leaders.

7. National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP)
