1. Buhari Govt Gets Fresh Order To Frustrate Planned NLC, TUC Strike

The Muhammadu Buhari-led government has obtained a fresh court order stopping the planned strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). GoldenNewsNg reports that labour unions had fixed Monday, September 28, to begin protest and strike over the recent increase in electricity tariff and petrol price.

2. NCDC Confirms 213 New Cases of Coronavirus
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed one-hundred and twenty-five (125) new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19). The agency made this known in a post on its Twitter page on Tuesday night.

3. Man and 119 others offer to serve sentence for ‘blasphemy’ boy.

The director of the Auschwitz Memorial in Poland has offered to serve part of the 10-year jail sentence given to a 13-year-old Nigerian boy for blasphemy.

Dr Piotr Cywinski said he and another 119 volunteers from all over the world would each serve a month in prison.

He personally asked Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to pardon the boy.

The boy was convicted by an Islamic court of making uncomplimentary remarks about God during an argument with a friend in Kano state in August.

The boy’s lawyer later appealed against the sentence, saying it violated children’s rights and Nigeria’s constitution. Although  no date had been set for the appeal to be heard in court.

Gunmen suspected to be terrorist fighters on Friday, opened fire on the convoy of Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum. The attack, which was said to be an ambush, resulted in the killing of 15 security personnel including soldiers and policemen attached to the Governor’s convoy.

5. ‘Jail Me’ – Foreign Activist Begs President Buhari

The director of Auschwitz Memorial in Poland, Piotr Cywinski, has said he is ready to be imprisoned in Nigeria so that Umar Farouq, a 13-year-old boy sentenced for blasphemy, can regain freedom. Recall that a Sharia court in Kano had convicted Farouq for “using disparaging language on Allah” during a disagreement with his friend.

6. Electricity, Petrol Hike: Aviation Unions To Embark On Nationwide Strike

Four aviation unions have backed the planned nationwide strike called by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). The unions have asked its members to withdraw services from all aerodromes indefinitely to protest the increase in electricity tariff and petro price.

President Muhammadu Buhari has renewed the appointments of Chief Executive Officers of agencies under the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.The agencies are Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF), and Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).

In a statement, earlier today, the protest organizers urged all Nigerians to come out en masses and fight against poor governance in Nigeria as they will be demanding a reversal of “anti-people policies implemented by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.”

12. APC Suspends Governor Fayemi

Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has been suspended by the State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress APC.

A statement issued on Friday by the party said, the governor was suspended due to his numerous anti-party activities, especially his role in Saturday’s Governorship Election in Edo State, which is contrary to the provisions of Article 21 (A) (ii) of the APC constitution.

The governor was also said to have hosted Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, a People’s Democratic Party PDP stalwart, five days before the Edo Election in Ado-Ekiti and planned a coup against the Edo APC.
