Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. Tinubu, who is currently in London, was represented by his running mate, Kashim Shettima.

2. The Catholic Diocese of Enugu, yesterday, lifted the ban on Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka’s adoration ministry. The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the controversial priest.

3. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State has expelled Dotun Babayemi after the Supreme Court judgment that ruled in favour of Ademola Adeleke as the party’s candidate in the gubernatorial primary election. Babayemi sought to upturn the outcome of the PDP gubernatorial primary election which produced Adeleke.

4. A total of nine law professors, three major lawyers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and about 50 other lawyers were on Thursday listed to be conferred with the prestigious rank of the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs). They would be honoured by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) under the chairmanship of the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria CJN, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

5. The House of Representatives, on Thursday, concluded its meetings with stakeholders over the lingering crisis between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, saying its recommendations would soon be presented to President Muhammadu Buhari.

6. The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, on Thursday, said the force would not discard community policing system arrangements already put in place to checkmate various crimes at local levels. The police chief stated this at the 11th edition of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) forum in Abuja.

7. No fewer than four members of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have returned N122.4 million paid into their accounts by the main opposition party leader. There have been media reports that the PDP’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, allegedly paid over N100m to the NWC members after the party’s primaries.

8. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered the immediate suspension of all activities of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, in the State. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, who announced this on Thursday, said the suspension has become imperative following some pockets of violence recently recorded in Ojo and Lagos Island.

9. Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has maintained that no court in Nigeria has the authority to try its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, insisting his rendition was illegal. Spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful, in a statement, yesterday, said the Nigerian court has violated local and international laws by allegedly condoning Kanu’s rendition.

10. The leadership of the House of Representatives yesterday said that it would seek an audience with President Muhammadu Buhari on the resolution of the ongoing face-off between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila said this during interactions with stakeholders on Thursday.
