Below are the Nigerian Newspaper headlines & Naija news today from Nigerian newspapers.

Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. Ahead of the 2023 presidential elections, the Labour Party has released its Presidential Campaign Council list consisting of 1,234 members. The list was disclosed on Wednesday during a press conference in Abuja.

2. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, yesterday, announced the appointment of 28,000 Special Assistants for political units. A statement by the media aide to the Governor, Kelvin Ebiri, said the appointment takes immediate effect.

3. Feelers emerged on Wednesday that the Peoples Democratic Party has rescheduled its presidential campaign rallies for Kebbi and Zamfara states indefinitely. The presidential rallies, which were slated to take place on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13, 2022, respectively, were, however, put on hold.

4. The Indigenous People of Biafra has condemned the recently reported release from Ikoyi Custodial Centre of 101 members of the Boko Haram sect by the Federal Government. It noted that the development came at a time the same government was detaining its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, and other members in various detention facilities across the country.

5. Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi, were present at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria’s conference in Abuja, while the presidential candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, and the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar were absent.

6. The Court of Appeal on Wednesday fixed March 7, 2023, to hear an application filed by the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Kanu is seeking to be joined in the appeal challenging the group’s proscription by the Federal Government.

7. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd has said 146 trucks have arrived in Abuja to deliver petrol to douse the scarcity in the nation’s capital. For over a week, there have been queues at retail stations, with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, blaming it on the flood in Kogi.

8. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said not less than 95 million eligible voters would participate in the 2023 general elections. The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this on Wednesday at an event organized by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), and Yiaga Africa at the NED Headquarters, Washington DC.

9. The Zamfara State Government has reopened 45 of the 75 schools it closed over insecurity, the Ministry of Education declared on Wednesday in Gusau. Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Alhaji Kabiru Attahiru, made the disclosure when he received members of the state’s Technical Team on Education in Emergencies (EiE) who paid an advocacy visit to the ministry.

10. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Calabar, Branch on Wednesday disclosed that some understanding has been reached, while some shifting of grounds have been made, but only National Executive Council, NEC, will convey the resolutions. Chairman ASUU, UNICAL, Dr Edor John, stated this yesterday while addressing newsmen.
