Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Carlos Vinicius from Portuguese outfit Benfica on loan.
The agreement includes an option to buy the Brazilian for a fee of £36m and he is scheduled to arrive London tomorrow for his medical.
Vinicius who joined Benfica from Napoli for £15m only last year, is seen as a capable back up to Spurs Harry Kane.
The 24 year old who has been linked with a host of Europe’s biggest club’s including Inter Milan and Juventus, scored 24 goals last season for Benfica.
He has so far made two appearances this season in the champions league – in a loss to PAOK and then, a 5-1 victory over Famalicao in early Sept.
Spurs coach Jose Mourinho said on Wednesday while previewing tonight’s Europa league encounter with Maccabi Haifa, that he was optimistic of signing a forward before the transfer deadline which is on October 5.
“I am optimistic, but more than that the feeling that I like is that we are trying everything to do it.”
