Tribunal Gives Verdict on Oshiomhole’s Senatorial Election
Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North in the National Assembly, has successfully defended his election victory at the National/State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Benin City, Edo state.
The tribunal, led by Justice O.A. Chuioke, delivered its judgment on September 5, dismissing the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Francis Alimikhena, on the grounds of lacking merit.

The tribunal ruled that the petitioners, including Alimikhena, failed to provide sufficient evidence or relevant documents to support their case, particularly regarding allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act and the alleged non-transmission of election results through a BIVAS machine to the IREV Portal.
As a result of this decision, Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s election victory, which had been declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been upheld.
It’s important to note that this ruling signifies that the tribunal found no substantial evidence to warrant the nullification of Oshiomhole’s election or a rerun, as requested by the PDP candidate.
