UK Work Visas Job Scams: UK Govt Shares List of Companies Approved to Sponsor Work Visas

The United Kingdom (UK) has given a warning to people who are searching for jobs, especially those from other countries who want to move to the UK for work.

The UK government has put up a message on their website to help job seekers understand how to avoid falling into bad situations when looking for jobs in the UK. They want to make sure that people’s hopes of finding a good job don’t turn into a bad experience.

This warning is happening because there have been reports of people from countries like Nigeria who were tricked by promises of getting jobs when they come to the UK, but then they were left with no jobs and lost a lot of money.

The UK has a system that allows people from other countries who are qualified to work there. This system is for skilled workers.

Unfortunately, a report from Sky News UK showed that some dishonest people are taking advantage of job seekers, including Nigerians, and causing them harm. They’re using this system in a bad way.

To help job seekers, especially Nigerians looking for sponsors to help them move to the UK, the UK government is giving advice about things they should watch out for. They’re telling people to be careful and pay attention to certain signs that could mean a job offer is not real.

Here are the signs they’re telling people to look for:

  1. Job ads that are not well-written and don’t give enough details, like the salary.
  2. Contact details that seem suspicious, especially if there’s no real person to talk to and the email doesn’t look official.
  3. Job offers with really high salaries that seem too good to be true.
  4. Getting a job offer without having an interview first.
  5. Being asked to give money.
  6. Companies or emails that seem fake or not real.
  7. Checking if the company’s website domain is from the UK, not from other countries.

The UK government is also trying to help by giving a list of companies that are allowed to sponsor skilled workers from Nigeria who want to move to the UK for work. This means if you want to get a skilled worker visa, you need a real job offer from one of these companies.

To see the complete list of occupations, check here.

The names of the companies approved by the United Kingdom to sponsor visas can be viewed here for anyone interested.

To apply for a skilled worker visa, there must be an available valid job offer from a licensed UK Employer  CLICK HERE TO SEE LIST OF licensed UK employer
