UTME 2025: JAMB Suspends Law Admissions in Eight Nigerian Universities – See Full List below;
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that admissions into the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in eight Nigerian universities will not be processed for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Reason for Suspension
According to a statement released by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the decision follows the suspension of law programmes in these institutions by the Council of Legal Education (CLE), the top regulatory body for legal education in Nigeria.
Affected Universities
The universities affected by this suspension include:
- Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
- Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
- Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State
- Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
- Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
- Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
- Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
- Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
JAMB clarified that it will not process any admissions for law candidates into these universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Extended Suspension for Nigerian Police Academy
Additionally, JAMB announced that the suspension for the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, will last for two academic sessions, affecting both the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 academic years.
“Furthermore, the ban on registration for the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will extend into the 2026/2027 academic session,” JAMB stated.
About JAMB and UTME 2025
JAMB is responsible for conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Nigeria’s entrance exam for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions. The board also manages the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), which oversees the admission process nationwide.
The UTME for the 2025/2026 academic session is scheduled to begin on Friday, January 31, 2025, with an estimated 1.5 million candidates expected to participate in the computer-based tests.
