A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state, Comrade Jonathan Vatsa has urged the Presidency to “leave Bishop Mathew Kukah alone”, adding that, “he is speaking the minds of the Nigerian masses that voted in President Muhammadu Buhari into power.”
While responding to a statement by the Presidency through President Muhammadu Buhari’s Spokesperson Garba Shehu on Tuesday The former Publicity Secretary of the APC in Niger state said “the Cleric is speaking the People’s voice, even though you don’t like him, take his advise.
“You might not like the messenger but take his useful message if you mean well for the Country and respect those who speak the truth”.
It should be recalled that the Presidency while reacting to an Easter message by the Cleric accused the Catholic Bishop of hatred for the Buhari administration and using the pulpit to play politics.
Garba where he accused the Buhari government of failure, said “from his pulpit, he devoted his Easter message not to Christ’s death and rebirth so Man might be saved – but to damning the government in the most un-Christian terms.”
According to Vatsa “this government reneged on its promises to the people that voted it into power; the worse part is that, the poor masses, especially those in the rural areas whose villages have been taken over by terrorists have now been rendered homeless. Thousands of them have been chased away from their ancestral homes; they now live in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp,
“I invite the Presidency especially Garba Shehu to leave the Aso Villa and organize a Media your to Shiroro, Munya, Rafi and other five local government areas of Niger state.
“The Presidency should also not forget to visit Southern Kaduna, Plateau and Zamfara States. By the time you finish your on-the-spot visit you would confirm whether the Bishop is right or wrong instead of attacking him.
“All you people do is just to sleep in the villa with two eyes closed enjoying all the leisures and taxpayers money”.
The former Commissioner of Information Culture and Tourism added that, “now that the country is busy discussing about 2023 and busy scheming, where are the voters? These are the electorates that would vote at the general elections but because they are insensitive to the plight of the people all they do now is tell lies.”
He further advised that, the ruling Party and the Presidency come out and with their kneels bent begging and asking for forgiveness.
In his words “they better come out straight and admit to Nigerians that we (APC) have failed and the only thing left for us to do is to apologize to Nigerians because the first responsibility of any government is to protect lives and properties but we have not done that”.
