In response to Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers’s persistent attacks on its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has issued a warning.
Goldennewsng reports that Governor Wike had repeatedly confronted the former vice president when he asked the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign in order to back Atiku in the February election.
In response to Olusegun Obasanjo, Atiku’s former principal,’s endorsement of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi on Monday, Wike mocked Atiku, claiming that something must be fundamentally wrong.
In response, the PDP asked Wike to be ashamed of himself in a statement that was issued and signed by Senator Dino Melaye, the spokesperson and Director of Public Affairs for the PDP Presidential Campaign Management Committee.
“Wike should be ashamed that he has continually solicited the attention of Atiku by his continuous disrespect and unwarranted insult of a man who did nothing to you,” the statement reads.
“Because we will no longer tolerate his insolent tendencies, I advise him to support whoever he wishes to support. Is it possible that Wike has a problem that Amaechi did not disclose to him?
“Why should Prince Uche Secondus, Rt. Austin Okpara, Sen. Lee Meaba, H: Chief Abiye Sikibo, E Celestine Omehia, Sen. George Sekibo, and Hon. Chinyere Igwe, for example, abruptly depart him for Atiku. There must be a problem somewhere.
