Nasir El-Rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State has expressed concerns as regards the weapons given to the members of the Nigerian security agencies.
Governor El-Rufai has said that the Nigerian security agencies need to be supported with superior weapons and not with prayers from Nigerians. According to him, security is a collective responsibility and governors are already rallying around by speaking to stakeholders in order to bring calm to the people.
El-Rufai has also revealed that bandits have become bold when carrying out theirs attacks. He stated that they have become vulgar and they even have the audacity to attack military men. He said all these during a town hall meeting with the North-west governors and traditional rulers on Monday, January 15.
The meeting was held to discuss the next step in order to curb the insecurity in Northern Nigeria, however, the meeting was rescheduled as a result of the absence of other stakeholders.
He said;
“This town hall meeting is not complete without other stakeholders because of the short notice. So, we agreed that this north-west be reconvened in the next two weeks. The date will be announced by the NSA and COAS.
“Bandits now have the audacity to attack the military men. Bandits have become vulgar. Those who are not informed believe nothing is being done to deal with them.
“We need to support our security agencies not with prayers, but with superior weapons. Security is a collective responsibility.
“All of us, the governors, are going round, talking with stakeholders to calm people down.”
