Senior Advocate Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana has threatened to tug the Department of State Services (DSS) to court for allegedly refusing to release Omoyele Sowore who has reportedly met his bail conditions.
In a statement released on Thursday November 7, Falana disclosed that this is often the second time the security agency are refusing to release the convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement even though the federal high court in Abuja has ordered his release alongside Olawale Adebayo a.k.a Mandate.
“On eighth August 2019, the Honourable Justice Taiwo Taiwo granted the applying of the State security service to detain Mr. Omoyele Sowore for forty five days,” he said.
“Upon the expiration of the 45-day detention period the court granted Mr. Sowore bail on Sept twenty four, 2019. He met the bail conditions however the State security service refused to release him from custody.

“Mr. Sowore and Mandate Bakare were subsequently charged with treasonous law-breaking, cyber stalking and concealing on Sept thirty, 2019. The magistrate, the Honourable Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu admitted the defendants to bail below terribly demanding conditions. Upon meeting the bail conditions Justice Ojukwu directed the State MI to unleash the defendants from detention.
“But in utter contempt of the orders of Justice Ojukwu the State MI has refused to unleash Messrs Sowore and Bakare from custody.

“Since the State security service isn’t higher than the law of the land we have a tendency to shall embark on appropriate legal measures to make sure compliance with the court orders.”
