We’re ready to work with media – Niger Govt declares

Following plans to further increase the relationship between the government and Journalists working in the state, the Niger state government has expressed its determination to work harmoniously with the state Correspondents’Chapel for the desired coverage.

The effort which is primarily to get the desired publicity it deserves was made known when the leadership of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger state Council led by its Chairman, Comrade Yakubu Bina paid a separate courtesy visits to the governor’s media aides at government house Minna.

The Media Aides visited include; the Chief Press Secretary Ibrahim Bologi, Special Adviser Print Media Aisha Wakaso and Special Adviser Digital Media and Strategy Abdulberqy Ebbo who unanimously agreed to work with the media in the interest of the society and the state.

While drawing the attention of the government to some critical issues affecting the Chapel, the Chairman applauded governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s ongoing developmental projects across all sectors of the economy, saying “our members will work within the purview of our profession without fear or favour”.

Accordingly, he said “we are aware of some of the developmental strides especially in the area of infrastructure, agriculture but we are not equipped with the necessary information and activities and so, we can not report in isolation “.

On his part, the Chief Press Secretary Ibrahim Bologi called for the support and understanding of the media in ensuring the required publicity of governor Bago’s activities, adding that the media are partners in progress and accorded the desire respect.

Similarly, the Special Adviser Digital Media and Strategy, Abdullberqy Usman Ebbo and Special Adviser Print Media Aisha Wakaso commended the chapel for the visit and assured of smooth working relationship with the media.

They also reaffirmed the commitment of the state government in carrying everybody along in its activities to ensure adequate and proper publicity of state programmes.
