Many Nigerians are not happy with gospel singers in the country because they were not supportive during the lock down. Social media was full of stories and photos of secular celebrities giving out cash and food items to poor Nigerians.
In fact a certain celebrity had her office gate nearly pulled down by Nigerians who were in need of food. Charitable activities continued for many weeks but none was reported abut gospel singers despite the support and following that they get from poor Nigerians.
Just days after the lock down was lifted a female gospel singer shared on her Instagram wall a good news and she made headlines for many days after her song to the chart on the American bill board of popular songs. Nigerians also celebrated with her but some people are expressing disappointment that gospel singers were no where to be found when they were needed most.
On many of their social media handles, they shared photos and scriptural verses and even their songs but neglected a very important aspect of their religion. However, some gospel singers have countered critics insisting that they gave to the needy during the lock down but did not publicize it.
