Veteran Nollywood actor, Yemi Solade, has opened up on why he stopped attending church services for more than a decade.
Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Solade revealed that his decision stemmed from a clash between his career and the demands of his former church.
The actor recalled an incident in 2013 when a pastor told him not to accept acting jobs scheduled on Sundays. According to him, that instruction interfered with his livelihood.
“That same work he wanted me to avoid is what puts money in my pocket and allows me to give offerings. That was when I decided to stop,” Solade explained.
He dismissed the idea that skipping church would ruin his life, noting that he has enjoyed peace, stability, and career growth since then. “The notion that if you don’t attend church, your life will nosedive — I have not seen anything change. Instead, I have peace and do well,” he said.
The actor clarified that his choice was not a rejection of faith but a conscious step to avoid unnecessary pressures from constant church activities, which he felt disrupted his personal growth and family life.
