The Russell E Train Education for Nature (EFN) Program by WWF is inviting proposals for the Environmental and Social Impact Grant, providing up to $15,000 in financial support. This grant aims to foster collaborative capacity building related to environmental and social impacts and risks of development projects on ecosystems. The focus is on enhancing inclusive conservation and sustainable development in Kenya, Tanzania, and Madagascar.
Focus Areas:
- Developing Skills and Standards:
- Address institutional challenges and gaps in understanding and mitigating social and environmental impacts of development projects.
- Emphasize hands-on activities, case studies, and opportunities for inclusive conservation.
- Engaging Diverse Stakeholders:
- Prioritize gender mainstreaming and involvement of local and indigenous communities.
- Foster a professional network, emphasizing collaboration and information exchange.
- Strengthening Institutional Capacities:
- Address governance challenges related to conservation, development, and infrastructure projects.
- Improve expertise and experience of individuals and communities in impact assessment and conservation outcomes.
Funding:
- Applicants can request up to $15,000 with strong budget justifications.
Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Legally registered organization in an eligible country (Kenya, Tanzania, and Madagascar).
- Track record in capacity building related to environmental and social impacts.
- Ability to monitor results and completion of grant activities before August 2025.
- Commitment to COVID-19 regulations and support work focused on WWF’s six goals.
Selection Criteria: Projects will be evaluated based on:
- Rationale, feasibility, and realistic budget.
- Short- and long-term impacts on environmental and social sustainability.
- Measurable outcomes and outputs.
- Scalability, transferability, and collaborations.
