Yemi Alade complained that the government cut funding for many sectors but left its 27billion naira budget for the renovation of the National Assembly.
Generally, Nigerians are dissatisfied with the way and manner in which the Nigerian government is handling the coronavirus issue. Popular singer Yemi Alade has joined prominent Nigerians to condemn the government’s decision to spend 27billion Naira on the renovation of the National Assembly.
The government had reduced the national budget to be able to cope with the economic challenges brought about by Covid19. But Yemi Alade complained that the government cut funding for many sectors but left its 27billion naira budget for renovation of the National Assembly. The legislature came under heavy criticism earlier for suggesting that they should acquire new cars for all the senators and house of reps members.
Apart from Yemi Alade, popular comedian Ali Baba had earlier condemned the move by the Nigerian government. The issue is generating more attention now because the budget for renovation is higher than the national budget for health which is only 25 billion naira.
As Nigeria continues to record more covid19 cases, there are fears that it will soon go out of control since it has crossed the 10,000 marks and it is still increasing exponentially. Like many other celebrities, Yemi Alade is bothered about the ugly trend.
