Olamilekan Odofin, who had been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command following an attack on January 9, 2023, has been arrested.

It is reported that Odofin, along with other individuals posing as Yoruba Nation Agitators, had engaged in a violent assault, disrupting social and commercial activities in the Ojota area of the state. During this incident, two police officers were shot, and one person lost their life.

Immediately after the attack, a team of police officers from Alausa Division and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested four suspects, while Odofin managed to evade capture for a year. However, the Lagos State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin, announced on Friday through his X handle that Odofin had been apprehended.

SP Benjamin further mentioned that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing. In his statement, he wrote: “After over a year on the run, 34-year-old Olamilekan Odofin has been arrested by officers of Ayobo Division. The suspect, on January 9, 2023, championed attacks on motorists and the police under the guise of Yoruba Nation agitation. Investigation is ongoing.”
