This online news medium earlier reported that Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development of Nigeria, restated that her ministry received over 5 million applications in well over one month.

1, 000, 000 successful enrollees will be selected from the final application pool, AllNews understands.

“The N-Power Batch C application portal closed on Sunday, August 9, 2020, after receiving over 5m applications. As we embark on the review process, efforts are in high gear to clear the stipends for Batch A and B before onboarding the new set of beneficiaries,” Farouq, had said in a tweet on her verified handle.

Also, Farouq in August stated at the grand finale of events in commemoration of her ministry’s first year anniversary, in Abuja, the Nigerian capital city, that the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs ‘will ensure due diligence will be applied to ensure that only duly qualified applicants are enrolled for N-Power Batch C during the selection stage’.

We have successfully exited the 500,000 Batch A and B beneficiaries and closed registration for Batch C with a total of 5,042,001 registrations received.

“As we move to the selection stage, the Ministry will ensure due diligence will be applied to ensure that only duly qualified applicants are enrolled,” Farouq had said.

With no further information provided on Batch C Selection Stage, youths of a country with a 27.1% unemployment rate are persistently nervy.

While the Federal Ministry Of Youth And Sports Development hinted that the enrollment of the Batch C N-Power beneficiaries will transpire in November 2020, this online news medium can authoritatively report that it didn’t happen. This is December.

N-Power Applicants Reaction:
Akinpelu Kunle, a 27-year-old unemployed Nigerian youth told AllNews on Tuesday that “he is tired” of waiting.

Ajala Seun, based on Kwara State, North-Central Nigeria, wonders why it is taking the government so long to announce something concrete as regards the next selection stage of Batch C N-Power beneficiaries.

For Iheanacho Augustine, the Nigerian government is “unserious” and “not ready”. Augustine stated  that he believes the government’s planning concerning Batch C N-Power recruitment is “defective”.

  •  The AGSMEIS loan

  • BOI GEEP loan

AGSMEIS is a federal government intervention funding scheme through CBN that promotes Agric businesses as a vehicle for sustainable economic development and employment generation

Anchor Borrowers’ Program (ABP): The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in line with its developmental function established the Anchor Borrowers’ Program (ABP). The Program which was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) on November 17, 2015, is intended to create a linkage between anchor companies involved in the processing and smallholder farmers (SHFs) of the required key agricultural commodities. The program thrust of the ABP is the provision of farm inputs in kind and cash (for farm labor) to smallholder farmers to boost production.

7. Buhari moves forward with goal of lifting 100m Nigerians out of poverty, unveils new plans

GoldenNewsNg report that in the effort of the president , Buhari  to get to reduce the unemployment level among the youths in Nigeria, Buhari has approved the increase of N-Power beneficiaries by one million.

GoldenNewsNg gathered that  the president also approved the expansion of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP). This was disclosed on Thursday, December 10, via his verified Twitter handle @MBuhari, adding that the move was aimed at fulfilling his promise of lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty.

President Buhari emphasised that five million pupils would be added into the National Home-Grown School Feeding Program (NHGSFP).

President Muhammdu Buhari says he is ready to lift 100 million Nigerians from poverty before he leaves office in 2023.

8. Nigerian govt plans to spend N400 billion on NPOWER in 2021

For 2021 fiscal year, the Nigerian government, under the ministry of humanitarian affairs, has proposed to spend N400 billion on its social investment programmes (NSIP).

According to report gathered by GoldenNewsNg , This comprises a total recurrent expenditure of N350 billion and N50 billion for capital spendings, according to a document submitted to the National Assembly by its joint committees on poverty alleviation.

A document showed that while the proposed recurrent expenditure for next year would remain unchanged, the estimate for personnel cost was increased by 2.31 per cent, from N166.3 billion in 2020 to N170.1 billion in 2021.

This increase is “because of (an) increase in the number of NPOWER (NTEACH Hub) beneficiaries from 400,000 to 450,000,” the document said.

More than half of the total proposal for recurrent expenditure (that is 52.6 per cent) would be used for the implementation of programme components of the Job Creation Unit (JCU), including N-Power and Innovation Hubs.

This means that NPOWER and its affiliate sub-programmes on job creation for the enrolment of 450,000 N-Power volunteers and training, tooling and mentoring of 54,000 non-graduate beneficiaries would cost about N200.3 billion.

9. Verification Notice for N-Power Beneficiaries Omitted From Payments

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has directed Batches A and B Beneficiaries of the N-Power Programme who were earlier omitted from Payment of their stipends to report to their various State Focal Persons for verification and re-validation.

The directive was given by Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq as efforts to resolve unpaid stipends withheld due to discrepancies in records of the beneficiaries are almost being concluded.

Investigations conducted by the Office of the AGF following the omission of some N-Power beneficiaries from payment of stipends indicated that some beneficiaries were also drawing salaries from other Federal Government MDAs

However, the minister has directed that opportunity be given to the affected beneficiaries to verify and re-validate their eligibility so that qualified beneficiaries can be paid for their participation in the N-Power Programme.

Beneficiaries are thereby directed to report to their State Focal Persons immediately with their bank account details including bank statements from March 2020 to date, NYSC Discharge Certificates, birth certificates and other related screening documents.
