The minister when asked what his mission was in Taraba State said, “I am a minister and I don’t want to get sacked until the president is satisfied that I should go. Anyone that said I was in Taraba for a meeting is lying. I got to Taraba by accident through a friend whose daughter was wedding. I went there and came back. Mischievously, one of the Nigerian newspapers wrote that I went for a political meeting. I like the way Muslims organise their weddings. Five minutes, it was over, 10 minutes we were eating and in 30 minutes, we were at the airport. How can a political meeting take place in 30 minutes? The event was so well organized. After the event, a vehicle took us back to the airport.”

The minister when asked what plan does he have for 2023 said, “I will sleep”.

He, however, disclosed that when he wakes from his sleep he would do a PhD programme.

Amaechi said, “I will do a PhD programme. I have a master’s degree and I am doing a Law programme at the Baze University, so when I wake up I will do my PhD to teach in a university.”

Meanwhile, NMA has served Buhari government 21 days notice to resolve issues with NARD, others

The Nigerian Medical Association has given the federal government a 21 days notice to fully resolve all the issues contained in the various agreements signed with its affiliate members.

The Nigerian Medical body warned the government to resolve its issues with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCAN, the National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, and the Medical and Dental Specialist Association in Basic Medical Sciences, MEDSABAMS.

The warning followed a National Executive Council meeting of the association in Edo State to discuss the current impasse between the government and resident doctors.

The NMA said it exhaustively reviewed the various industrial disputes involving the different affiliates of the Association maintaining that no doctor will be victimized for participating or not participating in the strike action by NARD.

A statement by the NMA President, Prof Innocent Ujah, said the Nigerian Medical Association fully supports all her affiliates in their efforts to improve the Healthcare Delivery in Nigeria and the welfare of her members.

”In the event that the FG fails to implement the agreements after the expiration of the 21- days notice, NMA shall summon an emergency delegate meeting to review the progress made on the implementation of the agreements.
