Breaking News in Nigeria : PDP Set to disqualify Senator Stella Odua Over Non-completion of NYSC
GoldenNewsNg report that Senator Stella Oduah’s campaign for re-election to the Nigerian Senate on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket may have hit a snag.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed that the legislator representing Anambra-North senatorial district did not finish the one-year obligatory NYSC program.
According to the NYSC, Oduah began her NYSC program in 1982 but absconded, according to a letter written on his behalf by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa.
The letter was written in response to a query from the Concerned Anambra North PDP Stakeholders, according to The PUNCH.
In an earlier letter to the NYSC, the group accused some of its officials of conspiring with Oduah to conceal the facts.
The NYSC denied cooperating with Oduah to hide the truth in a response headed, ‘Re: Doubtful NYSC Participation Collusion of Some Unscrupulous Staff of NYSC Concerning Stella Adaeze Oduah (Senator), Save the Image and Reputation of the Scheme.’
“In response to your request,” the letter said, “we wish to state that the facts of the situation remain as follows: In the 1982/1983 service year, Stella Adaeze Oduah was mobilized for national service and assigned to Lagos State.

Every Nigerian who graduates must “make himself available for duty for a continuous term of one year from the date specified in the call-up document served upon him,” according to Section 2 (1) of the NYSC Act.
According to the NYSC Act, those who graduated after the age of 30, those who served in the Armed Forces or the Nigeria Police for more than nine months, those who worked in intelligence organizations, and those who received national awards are all exempted from national service
It’s unclear how Oduah’s inability to complete her NYSC went unnoticed by institutions that generally examine ministerial aspirants, such as the Department of State Services.
Oduah claimed to have finished her NYSC in her CF001 form filed to the Independent National Electoral Commission in 2019, but her certificate and other credentials were absent.
“Sometime in 2010, while in travel from Akili Ozizor in Ogbaru local government area to Abuja, I found that some of my personal goods were gone,” she wrote in an affidavit.
“The originals of my West African School Certificate from Zixon Secondary School Ozubulu, First School Leaving Certificate from St. John Odoakpu Onitsha, and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from St. John Odoakpu Onitsha are missing documents.”

Before former President Goodluck Jonathan stripped her of her duties, Oduah served as Minister of Aviation.
Concerned Anambra North PDP Stakeholders petitioned the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, according to the PUNCH.
The group requested that Oduah, who had been screened to run in the primary, be disqualified.
The organization attached all essential evidence to the party in a letter dated April 26, 2022. There had been no answer, however.
