Amaechi Resigns As Minister Of Transportation
GoldenNewsNg reports that Rotimi Amaechi, a presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has resigned as Minister of Transportation.
President Muhammed Buhari instructed his ministers with political ambitions to tender their resignation papers on Wednesday, prompting Amaechi’s decision.
During the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, President Buhari issued this command.
The President requested that they submit their resignation letters by Monday, May 16th, 2022.
President Buhari’s term ends in May 2023, and Amaechi hopes to succeed him.
In a tweet, the APC Twitter UK handle acknowledged the resignation of the former Governor of Rivers State.
“Nigeria’s #Transport Minister, HM Chibuike R. Amaechi [@ChibuikeAmaechi], has resigned from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to focus on his Presidential Campaign,” it said.
“We appreciate your service to Nigeria.”
Minister of State for Education Emeka Nwajuiba, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Godswill Akpabio, and Minister of Science and Technology Ogbonnaya Onu are among those who have resigned to focus on the 2023 presidential election.
