NWC present Lawan to Buhari for endorsement
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, a former presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress, has revealed that the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and the party’s National Working Committee are planning to present Senate President Ahmed Lawan for endorsement to President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
Senator Adamu had already announced that the Senate President will be the party’s consensus candidate in the party’s primary election on Tuesday.
The NWC and the President have disputed that a consensus candidate has been chosen, stressing that all hopefuls would gather at the poll and delegates will decide who will represent the party in the presidential election of 2023.
In a statement signed by him on Monday, Kalu, the Senate Chief Whip, congratulated Lawan and said the Senate President would be presented to Buhari for support.
“Sen Abdulahi Adamu has decided, in the interest of our party and the future wellbeing of millions of Nigerians who look to our party for continuous leadership, that Senator Ahmed Lawan is the strongest and most suitable candidate to be our party’s flag bearer in the upcoming Presidential election,” he said.
“Our party’s National Chairman and National Working Committee will bring Senator Ahmed Lawan to President Muhammadu Buhari for his endorsement.”
