The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has replaced the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State with 20,350 members.
Goldennewsng reports that this was made clear to Governor Bala Mohammed by the Special Assistant, Political Matters, while he was receiving the decampees at an event on Saturday in Bauchi.
The decampees, Guardian Nigeria claims, hail from the state’s 20 local government areas.
Bala Zungur, one of the decampees, stated that the accomplishments of the ruling PDP in the state, particularly in the area of infrastructure development, informed the development.
He stated that the Bala Mohammed administration had constructed schools, hospitals, and a variety of other viable projects to enhance the state’s citizens’ quality of life.
He said that the decampees were APC stakeholders and party leaders from all of the electoral wards. He added that they would support the PDP to help it build on the state’s gains.
Zungur pledged to support the PDP’s candidates in the upcoming genedal election and urged the party’s leadership at the state and national levels to fully integrate them into the party with justice, equity, and fairness.
“We left the APC because it failed to address a number of internal crises that could have led to a defeat in the general election in 2023.”
“The decampees in this location have supported the APC for eight years, but the party appears to be drifting in the wrong direction, and we have finally returned to the PDP to advance the state.
He stated, “1,000 people across the 20 LGAs defected to the PDP, and they are all here with us,” urging the governor and party leadership to safeguard the decampees’ interests.
