Youth in Nigeria have been urged by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to be brave during the 2023 election.
Goldennewsng reports that in their respective areas, the religious organization advised them to avoid vote buying and selling.
At a youth conference on Sunday, Joseph Daramola, Secretary General of the CAN Youth Wing (YOWICAN) in Abuja, made the call.
According to Daramola, the youths wanted to do the right thing despite having been psychologically and emotionally abused.
“Use your bravery. Say no to anyone who wants to bribe you! Say no to anyone who wants you to sell your vote!
He was quoted by NAN as saying, “You have the right to ensure that you do what needs to be done and be courageous about it.”
Damarola said that parties have the right to choose whoever they want when it comes to the same faith ticket.
“As youth leaders and Christians, we must encourage our people to vote according to their conscience.”
Daramola expressed optimism regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s ability to deliver on its promise of fairness.
In February and March, the Christian leader advised Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).
