Prior to the 2023 election, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has denied working with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Goldennewsng reports that the party urged its adherents and the general public to ignore the “false claim.”
On Thursday, Rufus Aiyenigba, the National Publicity Secretary, gave a speech at a briefing for the media in Abuja.
Aiyenigba responded to Alfa Mohammed’s claim that the SDP was considering forming an alliance with the APC and Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate.
Mohammed, who had previously served as Deputy National Publicity, had left the party, according to the spokesperson.
Aiyenigba recalled that the leadership had repeatedly rejected the former official’s comments and publications.
The National Working Committee (NWC) removed Mohammed from his position as deputy spokesperson in November 2018 and suspended him in March 2019.
According to Aiyenigba, Mohammed was kicked out of the country in August 2019, a decision that was upheld at the National Convention in June 2022.
Mohammed is currently a member of the APC and even a prominent member of one of the party’s support groups.
He remarked, “There is no way a man playing such a role in the APC could be said to be an official of the SDP.”
