Former Deputy Governor of Niger State, Hon Ahmed Musa Ibeto has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) citing internal threats and anti-party activities.
The former Nigeria Ambassador to South Africa, in a resignation letter dated 3rd January, 2023 and made available to Journalists on Tuesday said lack of genuine reconciliation couple with lack of commitment and dedication to the success of the party.
According to a letter to the chairman of APC, Ibelu central Ward, in Magama local government area, Ibeto said “I convey to you the resignation of my membership of the All Progressives Congress from today 3rd January 2023.
“With my many years of active participation in politics and as a former party administrator and elected official into many political offices, I have come to this conclusion for many reasons.
“And, chiefly among these reasons are the absence of unity of purpose among party members and stakeholders occasioned by internal conflicts.
“Unending litigations, internal threats and counter threats, anti-party activities, lack of genuine reconciliation couple with lack of commitment and dedication to the success of the party by many stakeholders.
“For these obvious reasons I concluded that I cannot continue to be a member of the party. And by this resignation Mr Chairman, I cease to be a member of the Presidential Campaign Council, Assistant Secretary of the North Central Directorate of Mobilization and all organs and committees of the party”.
In a swift reaction to Ibeto’s resignation, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State said its door is wide open to receive the former Deputy Governor who left the PDP for the APC following his failure to clinch the 2015 gubernatorial ticket under the PDP.
In a statement signed by the Director Communications, PDP Campaign Council, Usman Yahaya Mohammed (aka Sai Baba), the PDP said, it is a welcomed development, adding that “we invite Hon. Ahmed Musa Ibeto to come back home and join the PDP in recovering Nigeria with PDP rescue team across the nation.”
