It should be noted that, consultations for the 2023 Presidential elections have entered top gear as Aspirants in the PDP have started visiting the uphill mansion of General Babangida.

Babangida, according to Governor of Abia State Okezie Victor Ikpeazu made the call on Nigerian youths when he played host to some Governors of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) led by governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state at his Uphill mansion in Minna.

While responding to questions on behalf of the team after their closed door meeting, the Governor Ikpeazu told Journalists that, “we had a closed door meeting with General Babangida and he expressed concerns that he expects the younger generation to take up the gauntlet and rescue Nigeria.”

General Babangida alongside former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar entered into a closed door meeting with the team immediately after their arrival.

Ikpeazu said “firstly, we came to consult the former Military President and former Head of State to discuss national issues, economic development, security and the unity of our country.

“We also commend him for his support for the unity of this country. The discussions went very well and we will advance it from there”.

He however declined to speak on the 2023 general elections, saying “we will discuss that later.”

The team which arrived the Minna international airport at about 3.30pm on Monday in four different aircrafts arrived the Uphill mansion of general Babangida at exactly 4:00 p.m.

Among those who accompanied governor Wike are the Governors of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuani, and Seyi Makinde of Oyo state.

Also, former governor of Benue state, Senator Gabriel Suswam and other members of the National Assembly.
