Requirements for the AU Internship Program

To be eligible for the AU internship program, applicants must:

  • Be actively enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program OR possess a Bachelor’s degree or advanced/postgraduate qualification.
  • Be nationals of an AU member state.
  • Be fluent in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
  • Be no more than thirty-two (32) years old.
  • Possess the highest standard of moral conduct and integrity.
  • Have not been convicted of any serious criminal offense.
  • Prior work experience is not mandatory.

Terms and Conditions

  • The AU has no financial obligation towards interns.
  • Interns are responsible for travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
  • The AU may assist interns in obtaining entry and residence visas.
  • Internship duration is three (3) months, renewable once.
  • Interns are not entitled to medical travel or evacuation expenses.

Required Skills and Core Competencies

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in one AU working language.
  • Commitment to work and integrity.

  • Motivation letter
  • Copy of valid passport or national identity card
  • Certified copies of academic certificates
