FG Conditional Cash Transfer Update: January 3, 2025

The Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program, initiated by the Nigerian government, aims to address the country’s rising poverty levels by providing financial aid to citizens facing poverty, unemployment, and vulnerability.

The National Cash Transfer Office (NCTO), which manages the Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program, has issued a critical alert to the public and beneficiaries about rising scam activities. Fraudsters are exploiting the name of this program, falsely promising payments of ₦450,000 under the guise of CCT benefits.

To protect yourself and others from these scams, the NCTO urges vigilance and provides legitimate channels for inquiries. This article will guide you on recognizing scams, verifying your eligibility, and safely navigating the CCT process.

What You Need to Know About the Scam Alert

Fraudsters have been circulating false information about large CCT payments. They may use fake emails, text messages, or social media posts to trick unsuspecting beneficiaries into revealing sensitive information or making payments.

How to Stay Safe

To avoid falling victim:

  1. Contact NCTO Directly:
    • Toll-Free Number: Dial 969 (MTN users only).
    • Email: Send inquiries to ncto@nassp.gov.ng.
    • Social Media: Reach out via official accounts on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and WhatsApp.
  2. Do Not Share Sensitive Information:
Never provide personal or financial details unless communicating through verified channels.
  3. Verify All Official Communications:
Program officials will always visit communities directly for registration, NIN validation, and payment guidance.

Ongoing Activities by NCTO

The CCT program remains committed to empowering low-income households. As part of its initiative:

  1. Debit Card Distribution:
Beneficiaries under the National Social Safety Nets Program (NASSP-SU) now receive debit cards to streamline payments.
  2. Community Registration Drives:
Qualified individuals will be registered and validated on the National Social Register to ensure transparency and fairness.
  3. Economic Shock Response:
The Federal Government continues to provide Direct Benefit Transfers (DBTs) to cushion economic shocks and support vulnerable populations.

How to Verify Your Eligibility for CCT Payments

To confirm if you are eligible:

  1. Ensure your household is registered in the National Social Register (NSR).
  2. Validate your NIN through official channels when officials visit your community.
  3. Follow updates from NCTO’s verified platforms for the latest developments.

Conclusion

The Conditional Cash Transfer program is a lifeline for many Nigerians, but it’s crucial to remain cautious of scammers. Protect yourself by verifying information through official NCTO channels and avoiding suspicious offers.
