1. FG Approves Reopening Of Nigeria’s Land Borders

The federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday approved the reopening of Nigeria’s land borders that had been closed for about a year.

The approval was given at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the council chamber of the Aso Rock presidential villa.

2. Dispensation of cases: Reps plan timeline for courts

The House of Representatives recently passed through second reading a bill to prescribe time for dispensation of criminal and civil cases. PHILIP NYAM reviews the debate on the bill Worried by the unnecessary delays in the dispensation of cases in the courts, the House of Representatives last week moved to redress the disturbing trend.

3. Buhari Must Go, He Has Dementia And Can’t Handle His Own Affairs—Junaid Mohammed

A former Nigerian lawmaker in the Second Republic and elder statesman, Dr Junaid Mohammed, has said President Muhammadu Buhari should resign because he cannot handle his own affairs, not to talk of handling the affairs of 200 million people.

Mohammed stated that President Buhari is not physically and mentally fit to lead a country like Nigeria.

4.WHO: COVID-19 has changed the way we live

The World Health Organisation( WHO) yesterday said that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the manner in which people live their lives on a daily basis. WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, who made this known in her 2020 end of year message, said the pandemic had killed 56,000 out of the almost 2.4 million people infected in Africa

5. FG Unveils NIN Enrolment Centres In Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari government on Wednesday approved 173 centres and 30 State government institutions for the National Identity Number, NIN, enrollment across Nigeria.

The Federal Government stated this in a statement released on the official website of the National Identity Management Commission titled, “Approved Data Capturing Agents (Digital Identity Ecosystem)

6. FAAC: FG, States, LGs Share N601.110bn Revenue

The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) at its meeting last night approved total sum of N601.110 billion (November revenue) for three tires of governments. The meeting which held at federal ministry of finance was chaired by Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed.

The amount shared comprised statutory revenue of N436.457 billion; Value Added Tax (VAT) revenue of N156.786 billion and augmentation of N7.867 billion from the Forex Equalisation revenue. The gross statutory revenue of N436.457 billion available for the month of November 2020 was higher than the N378.148 billion received in the previous month by N58.309 billion. The gross revenue of N156.786 billion available from the Value Added Tax (VAT) was also higher than the N126.463 billion available in the previous month by N30.323 billion. Federal Government received N215.600 billion, states received N171.167 billion while Local Government Councils received N126.789 billion. Oil producing states received N31.392 billion as 13% mineral revenue, while cost of collection, transfers and refunds had allocation of N56.162 billion.

7. Mass Defection Hits APC In Edo

Mass resignation has hit members of the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Anselm Ojezua.
Members of the APC in the state cited loss of confidence in the national leadership of the party and alleged disobedience to the party’s Constitution.
The leaders of the party, led by the immediate past State Chairman of the party, Mr. Anselm Ojezua Wednesday, announced their intention to join the ruling Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in the state.
The resolution was reached at an enlarged meeting of the State Executive Council (SEC) of APC Committee members and the Chairmen of all the Local Government Area chapters of the Party and the State Leaders of the Party in Edo State held on Wednesday in Benin City.

8. 2023: No Zoning Agreement In APC, Says Yerima

Former governor of Zamfara State, Senator Sani Yerima has countered those claiming there is a zoning agreement in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yerima, who engaged the media on Tuesday in Abuja, said there was no meeting of APC where zoning was discussed and agreed on.
The issue of zoning had taken the center stage of discuss in APC, as recently, the Caretaker Chairman of Lagos State, Tunde Balogun said President Muhammadu Buhari and National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had agreed that the Presidency would be zoned to the South West after his (Buhari’s) tenure.
Many other APC chieftains had also said that it was agreed that the Presidency should be zoned to the South after Buhari.
But reacting on zoning, Senator Yerima, who is aspiring for the APC Presidential ticket in 2023 said: “You see, I don’t think there is anything like an agreement. You can ask Mr President, he led the group, Asiwaju was there, I was part of it, there was no meeting I didn’t attend or any meeting that I attended that there is such agreement.
“An agreement can’t be verbal, it has to be written. In any case, any agreement that is contrary to laws of this country is not an agreement. The Constitution is very clear, the Constitution of the political parties, the Electoral Act. We are in a democracy and democracy is governed by processes and procedures and by laws.
9. Notorious Gang Leader Linked To Governor Ayade Arrested For Killing Assistant Commissioner Of Police

A dreaded gang leader in Cross River State, Kingsley Utomobong, and his gang members have been arrested for the murder of an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Egbe Edum.

Edum was hacked to death by gunmen on Wednesday, December 2, at 8 Miles area, along the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar.

It was gathered that he was attacked while waiting for his wife to pick him up after the bus he was travelling in, broke down.

According to a   source the late Edum’s belongings were found on Utomobong and his gang members.

Utomobong, who is notorious for freely extorting money from residents of the state and inflicting pains on anyone standing in his way, was said to be untouchable because of his closeness to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State.

10. Breaking : Gunmen abduct 10 year-old boy in Delta

Gunmen have been reportedly abducted a 10-year-old boy, Chimeremezie Izu, at No. 5 kelvin street, Core Area 4, GRA, Asaba, the Delta State capital.

According to punch, the young boy was taken away from his mother after the armed robbers who break into the apartment could not lay hands on cash and valuable items around 3:30 am on Wednesday.
