An Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Youth Parliament, OYP, has decried the opposition of some Igbo leaders against the emergence of Professor George Obiozor as the new President General of the apex Igbo organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

This comes as factional President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Engr. Mike Ibe was quoted as criticizing Professor George Obiozor for allegedly calling on the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra,(IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to stop Biafra agitation.

The Ohanaeze Parliament, in a statement by the Speaker, Comrade Anya S. Anya and made available to GoldennewNG on Friday frowned at the utterances and malicious statements of few Igbo elites, as well as agitators that are capable of dragging the Igbo nation backwards.

According to the Igbo group, “It pays no one or group, instead makes others or Allies see us as one or people that lack discipline or moral upbringing.

“NDIGBO must understand themselves in all ramifications, to enable Peace, Unity and Progress. Sometimes, we are not surprised that most of us react to every article we read without full knowledge and understanding.

Continuing, OYP said, “We must be candid in tackling and addressing issues of most importance, to avoid shooting ourselves at the foot. We might believe whatever we want in our various homes, but must streamline them towards a common understanding and peaceful coexistence of Ndigbo at large.

“We should always remember, that no Igbo man or woman has the rights, or can tell his fellow to leave Igbo land unless he or she belongs to these categories of banditry, armed robbers and terrorists; known for terrorising our God-given environment and individuals, then the law will take its full cause.

The socio-cultural body concluded, “Ndigbo must go for what unites them and not for what separates them. We need peaceful coexistence of all and sundry in Ndigbo land, knowingly, that without peace and unity, there will be no progress.

“Professor Amb. George Obiozor, the President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has come to redeem and save Ndigbo from where we are now to the promised land, we sort to be. Any Pharaoh that doesn’t know Joseph is not leaving again. Ndigbo must unite in peace against obvious challenges”.
