2023 Presidency: Big Blow for Atiku, Other PDP Members as Governor Wike Releases Bombshell

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers state, reminded members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday, May 19, that people like Atiku Abubakar betrayed the party in 2015.

Wike said the presidential contenders who abandoned the party do not deserve to have the PDP presidential ticket for the 2023 election while meeting with party delegates and leaders in Ibadan, Oyo state’s capital city.

According to The Nation, the governor claimed that these created dissension in the PDP in 2015 by posing as presidential candidates ahead of the election next year.

He reminded the Oyo leaders and delegates that the aspirants had built the new-PDP and had sold the party’s goodwill and electoral possibilities.

To quote him:

“The question is, who is to blame for the PDP’s loss of the 2015 election, which we are now paying for?” We are currently fighting for power.

“However, look at the state of the country.” Who taught Nigerians that President Buhari is a saint who will save the country? What

Why should PDP members and Nigerians be concerned about betrayals?

According to the Punch, Wike has cautioned that some of the PDP’s present presidential aspirants are to blame for President Muhammadu Buhari’s election.

He said:

“Right now, we’re in pain. Every day, people are dying. Over 1000 people were slain in Kaduna between January and March. There have been so many kidnappings.”

He also urged voters at all levels to be more cautious about the types of people with whom they wish to entrust the country’s leadership.
Governor Wike recounts how a powerful Rivers judge rescued his political career in 2004.

On Sunday, May 15, Governor Wike of Rivers State extended his gratitude to Justice Mary Odili.

When certain unknown individuals ganged up against him, the governor stated that it was the retired Supreme Court of Nigeria Justice that rescued his political career.

Justice Odili, according to Wike, intervened in his case through her husband, Peter, who was the governor of Rivers state at the time.
