WOWICAN holds convention, donates clothes, food items to IDPs

Women’s wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) Niger State chapter has donated relief items which includes food items and none food items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Munya and Shiroro local government areas of the state.

It should be noted that the IDPs have been sheltered at the Central Primary School, Gwada IDPs camp in Shiroro LGA of the state.
State Chairperson WOWICAN, Deaconess (Mrs.) Deborah Gana, at the presentations of relief materials to IDPs from Munya and Shiroro LGAs on Thursday in Gwada in the presence of her members who accompanied her to the camp for the delivery of the relief items.
The relief items was consisting of several bails of clothing materials food stuffs, soup ingredients, packets of Bar soaps and Detergents among others at the premises of the camp in order to cushion the effects of the hardships confronting them.

Deaconess (Mrs) Deborah Amina Gana during the symbolic presentation of the relief items shared by members of the association equally between the IDPs from Munya and Shiroro LGAs, who were displaced from their homes and communities by suspected armed bandits and insurgents since about April, 2019 till date following incessant attacks, killings and abductions of several members of the troubled communities in Munya and Shiroro LGAs of the state.
She said, “we are here in the IDPs camp Gwada IDPs who are both Christians and Muslims in commemoration of our 10th years Convention anniversary and to mark the occasion, we feel that the Lord has blessed us and we want to show love with the people in the IDPs camp here in Shiroro and Munya LGAs who are camped here in Central Primary School Gwada.
“That is why we have brought this token to show love and then to pray with them even after our departure that God, by His grace bring an end to this ugly and  unfortunate situation that had brought them here.
“We pray that peace should return to their communities in the affected local government areas so that they can return to their various homes as soon as possible and reunite with their people in Jesus name”.
She explained further that, “we have 87 bags of rice, Gari, Millets, Guinea Corn, Maize and other none food items like bar soaps, detergents and clothing materials.
“We also have soup ingredients like Maggi cubes and other condiments and we have Maize, Guinea corn and others that we will offer unto them”.
She further mentioned that the “Theme of this year’s Convention is to keep  working on the Faith path and at the end of the events, we hope and believe that we will be more encouraged to work no matter the situation we find ourselves and we should not shift focus”
Deaconess Gana stressed that “we should not be shaken nor downcast, we are bound to face the challenges as humans but when we keep working on the Faith paths, we will surely reach the destination by the grace of God.
She thereby called on the government, faith- based Organizations, other well meaning Nigerians and Corporate Citizens to extend gestures to those in the IDPs.
Accordingly, she said “and the Bible tells us that we should pray for those that are in sorrow and share with them in times of sorrow and we should also identify with those that are celebrating.”
