What are the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme Skills?

The Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme, also known as P-YES, offers some skills to empower Nigerian Youths.

1. Fashion & Beauty

If you like fashion, you don’t have to wander around other skills taught in the program. Some of these skills include Hair Dressing, Fabrics & Tailoring, Barbing, and Makeup.

2. Healthcare – Medical Doctors and Pharmacy

3. Technology Acquisition – Auto Mechanics, Car Wash, Tractor Assembly, Vulcanizing, Welding

4. Food & Beverages – Confectionaries and Catering.

5. Agriculture

The program will touch on most agricultural programs like Fumigation, Poultry Farming, Butchery, Fish Farming, and Rice Processing.

These are very lucrative fields that can make a person rich if well done.

Do not stop here; read further to know more about the P-YES program.

Is P-YES form out for 2022?

As obtained from RecruitmentBoard online, the form is out, and the registration for 2022 is ongoing at the time of this report.

How to register for the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme?

The process is straightforward. You will be given the link to the site and some of the basic requirements you need to have in hand before visiting the site.

  1. Kindly www.pyes.gov.ng/ and start your registration.
  2. Select the application and click on start your application. The process is self-explanatory, so you can be sure doing it on your own will work out well.

Just ensure you have all the requirements before starting your registration to make it successful at a go.

Requirements to register for P-YES

You do not need to have any money to register for this program. Below are the few things you need to apply for the P-YES.

1. O’Level Result

You should at least have a WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB result to be qualified for the program.

This means only one of these examinations certificate that shows that a citizen has completed his or he secondary school education is required.

2. Age Restriction

The eligible people for this program range from age 18-35. Citizens below the said age will not be permitted to participate in the program regardless of whether they meet other requirements.

However, myeduscholars.com noted that the age restriction is between 18-40 years old. It seems this is accurate information on the age restriction because several other websites on the internet have attested to the 18-40 age range requirement.

3. Ready to learn new skills

Applicants must also be ready to learn new skills from the requirements aligned by the said platform.

4. Neccessary certificate

It has also been said that candidates willing to apply for this program must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree of HND from any recognized tertiary institution.

Nonetheless, as gathered from BasedOnNews, anyone, whether graduate or undergraduate, can be eligible for this program.

5. Applicants also need to be able to operate computers

However, there is no known reasons to have this skill, but we speculate it will only be required during the registration process.

6. Valid Identification

It is also essential for applicants to have a recognized means of identification as citizens of the country. Some of them are the National ID card, Voters card, etc.)

7. Applicants must also be able to communicate in (at least) basic English or a Nigerian language.

8. As an applicant, you must also complete a guarantor’s form.

Note: You will most likely have to visit a Café to get this done efficiently, despite having all the required documents. The reason is that you may not have a scanner to scan and upload the file, which is another thing expected from all applicants.

Who founded P-YES?

P-YES appears to be an organization owned by different sectors and individuals instead of the fact behind it.

Although it did not start working immediately, we discovered the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme was launched by the Nigerian acting President, Muhammed Buhari, on the 12th of October, 2020.

Upon its invention, the government visualizes empowering over 770,000+ youths across the country. Thank goodness the process will be much easier and get to a lot of people faster since it is done on the internet.

The program was established to help boost the Nigerian economy through the empowerment of Youths, as its name suggests, and obtained from the Federal government. It was launched on the said day at the Presidential Villa.

When should you register for the P-YES program?

It is advisable to register no later than now. The reason is that main website revealed recently that about 500,000 citizens have enrolled in the program.

The complete registration is online, so you can never tell how many people will register daily. That is one reason you should not delay your registration. Get the required documents now and start your registration before the number of eligible applicants reaches 774,000.

Objectives of the Presidential youth empowerment scheme

The program established by the Nigerian government only a few years ago has been up and running with various objectives. Indeed, the goals are part of the vision the ruling government has for the country’s youths.

This section of the article has been put together to provide a clear answer to one of the most commonly asked questions on this topic: what is the purpose of the Presidential Youth Empowerment Scheme?

Below are the top objectives of the program, as obtained from the Nigerian government via the website. There are majorly four objectives behind the establishment of this platform, they include:

1. Empower the Youth:

When youths are empowered, they will be able to stand to survive on their own. And in this case, a youth who has been certified and is ready to live on his work will most likely bring up another youth within their immediate environment into a reproductive citizen too.

It is essential to empower the youths of any given country because in the hands of the youth lies the strength of the country, understanding that they are the leaders of tomorrow.

The Nigerian government must have thought about the implications of able but jobless youths to have brought about this program.

2. Reduce unemployment

If any, this is the central objective of establishing the P-YES. From my point of view, every other purpose, including wealth creation, comes under this.

Nonetheless, let us have a quick look at it.

The rate of unemployment has increased drastically in the country over the past few years, looking at the population of idle graduates around the country.

Therefore, we would not be wrong in saying that unemployment is a significant problem Nigeria faces. Thence, it is a wise and good vision to see to this through the invention of this program.

3. Reduce crime

Increment in the crime rate in any given geographical entity is one of the causes of unemployment, and it can happen within the blink of an eye.

Youths are able people who still have the strength to do all sorts of hard work – meaning if there is no employment, which means no money in the hands of the youths, indulging in several criminal cases will be almost uncontrollable.

With this, reducing the crime rate in mind as the government is another creative strategy for the interim government.

4. To Create Wealth

The P-YES was also established to fulfill the aim of creating wealth among citizens of the country.

It is clear that without a source of income (which is the platform’s ultimate goal), the creation of wealth can only be a dream without fulfillment.

So after undergoing the training for how long it has been scheduled, participants should seek employment and start working towards wealth.

The program was created because of you if you are a Nigerian student.

Conclusion

The information on the identified topics has been gathered from several websites, including the P-YES program site.

As a Nigerian citizen, you do not want to miss out on the ongoing program. The aftermath of the P-YES program is to empower Nigerian Youths to be able to survive independently, thereby reducing the rate of crime in the country.

If you have learned something significant in this piece, do not forget to share it with others who need to be informed.
