Arsene Wenger, the former manager of Arsenal, has identified a major factor in Germany’s World Cup exit from Qatar.
Goldennewsng reports that Wenger claimed that Germany’s “political demonstrations” were a factor in their early World Cup exit.
One of the nations anticipated to win the trophy, Germany, was unable to even advance past the group stages.
The Germans had staged a pitch protest just before their first match against Japan against FIFA for not allowing OneLove armbands to be worn during the tournament.The match ended in a 2-1 defeat for them.
According to Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, the countries that won their first games were those with experience and focus.
The FIFA boss added that groups like France, Britain, and Brazil played well in the main game and knew that “When you go to the World Cup, you realize you should not lose the primary game.”
He added that teams “who had the mindset to focus on the competition and not on political demonstrations” performed well in the group stages, which led him to suggest that Germany was not mentally prepared for their first match against Japan.
