Nigeria Election: Pregnant Woman Slumps, Dies On Queue At Polling Unit

A pregnant woman identified as Shamsiya Ibrahim’ reportedly slumped and died in zamfara state on Saturday during the presidential and national assembly elections.

 

According to result, the heavily pregnant, slumped and died while waiting on the queue to vote for her preferred candidate at her polling unit in the Tsafe Area of Zamfara.

Reports said she was immediately rushed to Tsafe General Hospital after she collapsed on the queue but was confirmed dead by a resident doctor upon arrival.

Channels Television reports that Shamsiya travelled from the Kotorkoshi area of Bungudu Local Government to Tsafe town, a distance of about 50 kilometres, to exercise her civic responsibility.

However, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security authorities are yet to make an official statement regarding the tragic development as of reporting time.

 

Elections Continues Today 26th February 2023 – INEC

Following the challenges in some polling units, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the presidential election will continue tomorrow, 26th February 2023.

The INEC chairman revealed this during a live briefing of the election situation report on Arise TV news today at about 4pm.

So, If you are yet to vote, kindly go to your polling unit and cast your vote for your prefered candidate.
