“No Court higher than God’s”

The Niger State Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Isah Liman Kantigi has told the Governor elect Umar Bago to watch his back saying “there are so many sycophants around”.
He said in a monitored live interview with the Radio Nigeria (Power FM, Bida) that the people around him (Bago) are those who are out for their gains and not in the interest of the common man in the State.
According to Kantigi, “whatever happened during the elections was approved by God. I have accepted the result of the election and taken it as the will of God.

“I must advise the Governor-elect to be careful of sycophants who are out for their gains and not in the interest of the common man in the state.”
It should be noted that Kantigi scored 387,476 votes as the major contender for the gubernatorial poll and Bago of the All Progressives Congress, APC got 469,896 votes to emerge as winner.
He added that, “God monitors every situation; there is time for everything, elections have come and gone.”
While declaring that he will continue to fight for the common man and the betterment of the State, Kantigi said “Nigerlites need liberation; Niger state has been abandoned and there are lot of lapses. I still say it, until I die, I will still be fighting for my people.
“There is the need for voters’ orientation and education. Imagine how a common spaghetti, few yards of clothing materials attracted people to sell their votes and people gave that kind of spaghetti a chance because they saw that that was their last hope”.
Refuting rumours that he might seek redress in court, Kantigi said “for now, we are looking at issues where there were mistakes, whether from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), or from our own human greed. Whether the winner won through the popularity he has, or he had used other means or whatever. We are looking at so many other means.
“For me, whatever will not happen on Wednesday will never happen. If it is going to happen on Thursday, no human being can make it happen on Wednesday, it must happen on the Thursday as approved by God”.
He however called for cooperation amongst all parties saying “let us rally round whatsoever God has put on the seat and join hands to look at the problems of Niger State”.
Hon. Kantigi also confirmed that after the election, he put a call to the Governor-elect to congratulate him on its outcome adding, “my call to him was personal”.
