  1. What is BVN? BVN stands for Bank Verification Number, a biometric identification system established by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigerian Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) to curb illegal banking transactions and identify fraudsters. It is a unique identification number that remains the same across all accounts held by an individual.
  2. Checking BVN through USSD Codes: To check your BVN number on different networks in Nigeria, follow these simple steps: a) MTN Network: Dial 5650# to get your BVN on your MTN mobile phone. Cost: N20.

b) Airtel Network: Dial 5650# to check your BVN on your Airtel mobile phone. Cost: N20.

c) Glo Network: Dial 5650# to check your BVN on your Glo mobile phone. Cost: N20.

d) 9Mobile Network: Dial 5650# to get your BVN on your 9Mobile mobile phone. Cost: N20.

  1. Checking BVN Online: You can also check your BVN online through your Internet Banking or Banking App.
  2. Checking BVN for GTBank: To check the BVN attached to your GTBank Account, dial 7376*1# from the mobile phone number associated with your GTBank account. Follow the instructions to view your BVN.
  3. Checking BVN for Other Banks: For most banks in Nigeria (except GTB), you can use the same USSD code to check your BVN:
    • Diamond Bank: Dial 5650#
    • Stanbic IBTC Bank: Dial 5650#
    • First Bank: Dial 5650#
    • Eco Bank: Dial 5650#
    • Zenith Bank: Dial 5650#

Knowing your BVN is essential for various banking transactions in Nigeria. With the simple USSD codes provided, you can easily check your BVN on any network. Additionally, internet banking and banking apps offer a convenient way to access your BVN online. Remember, it’s crucial to safeguard your BVN to protect against fraud and ensure secure banking operations.
